51% of consumers said they are more likely to buy a product since becoming a fan on Facebook, according to Erica Swallow, Mashable. Erica refer to a study: 10 Facts about Consumer Behavior on Facebook. How well is Swedish Fashion Brands Embracing Social Media channels?

Summary:

I’ve evaluated 38 Swedish fashion brands Social Media Presence. 37 of 38 fashion brands are present on Facebook. Pour is the only fashion brand not present on Facebook. Tiger of Sweden Facebook group is still scheduled to be archived.

14 of 38 fashion brands; Acne, Björn Borg, Filippa K, Frank Dandy Superwear, H&M, J. Lindeberg, Nakkna, Nudie Jeans, Odd Molly, Peak Performance, Tiger of Sweden, Velour,WeSC and Whyred, could be “liked” (Facebook) and “followed” (Twitter) and “subscribed” (YouTube) and their online web shops offers sharing of content/fashion garment to your friends on Facebook and/or Twitter.

Mobile Optimized Website: Swedish Fashion brands 2011 Q3 (sequel)

Introduction:

Living my life through my smartphone, in a digital euphoria and fashion in my heart. Are the Swedish Fashion brands enhancing my mobile fashion experience with a mobile optimized website? The swedish smartphone market has exploded(http://sverigesradio.se/ 2011/02/08) and new research portrays the UK as a smartphone-addicted country(http://mashable.com /2011/08/04/).

This is a sequel on my previous post: Mobile optimized website: Swedish Fashion brands: an Evaluation (2011/05/22). This evaluation is carried out with iPhone4 and Samsung Galaxy S II.

Summary:

Fashion is in a constant change but the mobile optimized fashion websites, to enhance customer fashion experience is still waiting for its change and makeover. I’ve reevaluated 21 Swedish Fashion brands websites with iPhone4 and Samsung Galaxy S II. 
H&M is the only Swedish Fashion brand that today has a mobile optimized website. Four Swedish Fashion brands are using Flash; Björn Borg, Blank, Fifth Avenue Shoe Repair (Brand website) and J. Lindeberg (Corporare website).

I’ve evaluated 17 Swedish fashion brands websites and their Online Payment Methods. 14 Swedish fashion brands offers Summer Sale except; Nikolaj d’Étoiles, Nudie Jeans and WeSC. 

VISA and MasterCard are accepted at all 17 Swedish fashion brands websites. 

Invoice as payment method is offered by 10 of 17 fashion brands; Acne, Fifth Avenue Shoe Repair, Frank Dandy Superwear,H&M, Hope, Nikolaj d’Étoiles, Nudie Jeans, Velour, WeSC and Whyred.

American Express is accepted by 9 of 17 fashion brands; Acne, Björn Borg, Fifth Avenue Shoe Repair, Frank Dandy Superwear, Hope, J. Lindeberg, Nudie Jeans, Our Legacy and Whyred. 

Payment method PayPal is offered to the Online customer by; Acne, Frank Dandy Superwear, Nudie Jeans, Peak Performance and Tiger of Sweden.

I’ve evaluated 21 Swedish fashion brands websites. 17 of 21 fashion brands are currently having an online shop except; Cheap Monday, Filippa K, Pourand Resteröds. To complete purchase at 3 fashion brands online shops (H&M, J. Lindeberg and Our Legacy) you need to log in to your membership account because it is mandatory. 4 of 17 fashion brands are offering the customer free shipping; Acne, Björn Borg, Frank Dandy Superwear and Nikolaj d’Étoiles.

I’ve evaluated 19 Swedish fashion brands Social Media Presence. All 19 fashion brands are present on Facebook. 10 of 19 fashion brands; Acne, Björn Borg, Filippa K, H&M, J. Lindeberg, Nudie Jeans, Peak Performance, Tiger of Sweden, WeSC and Whyred, could be “liked” (Facebook), “followed” (Twitter), “subscribed” (YouTube) and their online web shops offers sharing of content/fashion garment to your friends on Facebook or Twitter.

Approach:

I’ve focused my investigation on the major Social Media Channels, where the crowds/customer base are; Facebook, Twitter and YouTube.
Time period: 2011-06-01 – 2011-06-04

Step 1) Search: the Fashion Brand, in each respective Social Media Channel.
Step 2) Enter the Fashion Brands Website/Official online web shop, to “like” or “share” the content/garment to my friends.

Evaluation:

Are Swedish Fashion Brands having a presence in Social Media and in which Channels could you “like”/”follow” the fashion brand?

Is it possible to share (for example: Share this-buttons) the content/fashion garment to your friends on Facebook or Twitter, with a “like”-button or a sharing widget/plugin?

Mobile optimized website: Luxury Fashion Companies: an Evaluation

Summary:

I’ve evaluated 13 Luxury Fashion Companies brands websites. One luxuary fashion brand, Tiffany and Co, has a mobile optimized website. No browsing is possible (since the websites are using Flash) at all at; Moët et Chandon, Hennessy, Prada, Armani and some parts at Bulgari website.

Background:

I received feedback for my previous post Mobile optimized website: Swedish Fashion brands: an Evaluation. Question “How about the Luxury Fashion Companies, how well do they perform?”

Approach:

I used the book: Hines, T. & Bruce, M. (2008), Fashion Marketing, second edition, pages 130ff, to understand the sales and profits (US $ million) for major luxury goods companies.

Most profitable, in descending order; 1) LVMH 2) Richemont 3) Gucci 4) Tiffany and Co 5) Prada 6) Hermes 7) Armani 8 ) Bulgari 9) Versace.

Used mobile (smartphone) device: iPhone4
Step 1) Search fashion brand name on Google (mobile version)
Step 2) Enter website via link

Evaluation:

Does the Luxury Fashion Company have a mobile website (adjusted version) of their website and will it automatically redirect over to the mobile version/ mobile optimized website?

Summary:

I’ve evaluated 21 Swedish Fashion brands websites. Two Swedish Fashion brands has a mobile website. H&M is the only Swedish Fashion brand that has a mobile optimized website. Nudie Jeans has three web pages that is mobile adjusted. No browsing is possible at all at Blank and Resterödswebsites since they’re using Flash. Fifth Avenue Shoe Repair and J. Lindeberg is using Flash for their Corporate/Brand website.

Approach:

Used mobile (smartphone) device: iPhone 4
Step 1) Search fashion brand name on Google (mobile version)
Step 2) Enter website via link

Evaluation:

Does the fashion brand have a mobile website (mobile adjusted version) of their website and will it automatically switch over to the mobile version/ mobile optimized website?
